When the Liverman family first built their outdoor kitchen, they had high hopes for a stunning, functional space where they could cook, entertain, and relax. But soon, it became clear that the materials used just weren’t holding up to the elements.

The Problem with the Original Materials

The original cabinets were made from an expensive exotic hardwood. While beautiful at first, the harsh outdoor environment quickly took its toll. Sun, rain, and humidity caused the wood to warp, fade, and crack.

On top of that, the tile countertops were showing serious signs of wear. Outdoor exposure had damaged the grout between the tiles, leading to cracks, stains, and even mold.

Planning the Transformation

The goal was clear: replace the worn-out materials with products that are built to last outdoors, without sacrificing style or functionality.

Cabinets: They swapped out the hardwood for Werever outdoor cabinets, made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE). This material is perfect for outdoor use, it’s waterproof, UV-stable, and virtually maintenance-free. Best of all, Werever cabinets come with a true lifetime warranty.

Countertops: The tile countertops were replaced with granite, chosen for its natural strength, durability, and resistance to weather. Unlike tile, granite doesn’t have grout lines that can crack or stain, making it both beautiful and easy to maintain.

The End Result

Once the installation was complete, the transformation was stunning. The Livermans now have an elegant, functional outdoor kitchen that looks great without the constant upkeep.

Four Years Later…

We caught up with the homeowner to see how things were holding up:

“I replaced my outdoor kitchen about four years ago. My primary issues were the tile countertop, which had grout problems, and the hardwood cabinets. After six years, the wood was warped and weathered, and the doors no longer fit properly. My new kitchen has a solid granite countertop and Werever cabinets. After four years, both the countertop and the cabinets look exactly like they did the day they were installed. And instead of re-staining my cabinets every year, my Werever cabinets are virtually maintenance-free. I couldn’t be happier.”
